Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Spanish or a relevant international teaching qualification, with Spanish as a speciality.
Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching Spanish
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
A passion for languages and the ability to create engaging learning experiences.
Strong understanding of current language teaching methodologies.
Commitment to promoting cultural understanding and global citizenship.
Responsibilities
Primary
Deliver engaging and interactive Spanish lessons to primary students, following the school's adapted curriculum based on the National Curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) for England.
Creatively incorporate age-appropriate methods like games, songs, and activities to foster a love for the Spanish language and culture.
Support the development of students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish.
Collaborate with class teachers to ensure a holistic learning experience for students.
Secondary
Teach Spanish following the school's curriculum, which may be aligned with IGCSE or depending on the specific year group.
Prepare and deliver well-structured lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities.
Develop students' proficiency in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Integrate cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries into the curriculum.
Prepare students for external examinations (if applicable).
For both Primary and Secondary
Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and language acquisition.
Effectively assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to promote growth.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the Spanish curriculum.
