We are seeking a visionary Head of Arts Academy to lead and develop our secondary performing and visual arts programmes. This leadership role combines strategic vision with hands-on teaching, building a vibrant arts community and raising the profile of creative education across the school.


Reports To: Head of School / Head of Secondary / Head of Primary (as appropriate)

Qualifications and Experience

•        Bachelor's degree in an arts discipline (Drama, Music, Art, Media)

•        Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent international teaching qualification

•        Significant experience teaching and leading arts education at secondary level

•        Track record of successful productions, exhibitions, or performances

•        Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills

•        Experience with curriculum development and programme building

•        Commitment to safeguarding and child protection

Key Performance Indicators

•        Successful delivery of annual arts programme and calendar of events

•        High student participation rates in arts activities

•        Strong examination results in arts subjects

•        Positive feedback from staff, students, and parents

•        Development of at least two external partnerships

•        Effective management of arts budget and resources

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Academy of the Arts across secondary education

• Develop and implement the arts curriculum including Drama, Music, Art and Design, and Media

• Lead and mentor arts faculty staff, fostering professional growth and collaboration

• Coordinate performances, exhibitions, and showcases throughout the academic year

• Build partnerships with arts organisations, venues, and professional practitioners

• Manage arts budgets, resources, and specialist facilities

• Teach IGCSE/A-Level in at least one arts discipline

• Develop enrichment programmes including clubs, workshops, and masterclasses

• Promote arts education to prospective families and the wider community

• Contribute to whole-school events and the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate
