The School Counselling Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering the social, emotional, and academic well-being of students. This individual will lead the school's counselling programme, providing direct support to students, collaborating with staff, and ensuring the successful implementation of student support initiatives.
The role is split between direct teaching and dedicated counselling time. The teaching component involves delivering PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) to all levels up to Year 9. The dedicated counselling time allows for uninterrupted scheduling of individual and group counselling sessions, meetings with parents, teachers, and administration, observations, and collaboration on Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs).

Required Qualifications:
● Degreeand relevant educational qualifications.
● Experience working with children in a primary school setting.
● Proven experience in individual and group counselling.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and students.
● Excellent organisational and time management skills.
● Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Skills or Qualifications:
● Qualified School Counsellor
● Experience delivering PSHE or similar programmes.
● Experience working with students with diverse needs.
● Knowledge of current trends and best practices in school counselling.
Responsibilities
Counselling:
● Conduct regular individual and group counselling sessions with students experiencing academic, social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
● Prepare age-appropriate counselling materials to enhance student engagement and understanding. ● Document counselling sessions, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
Student Support:
● Workwith homeroom teachers to identify students in need of SEL and prepare targeted interventions or IEPs for those students.
● Participate in the Student Support Team, observing students and collaborating with other professionals to develop and implement effective interventions.
● Write detailed observations and action plans to address individual student needs.
● Conduct meetings with parents, teachers, and administration to discuss student concerns and provide guidance on student support strategies.
Programme Development:
● Leadthe creation and implementation of a comprehensive careers guidance counselling programme for Year 8 and upwards.
● Collaborate on the development or revision of relevant school policies and frameworks related to student support. IEP Management:
● Oversee the creation, update, and monitoring of Individualised Educational Plans (IEPs) for students with academic and behavioural needs.
● Workcollaboratively with teachers and relevant specialists to ensure IEPs are effectively implemented. Teaching:
● Deliver engaging PSHE lessons to all levels, up to Year 9, fostering students' personal, social, and health development.
● Contribute to the substitution register- hours to be defined and capped at an agreed level. Additional

● Participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best practices in school counselling.
● Maybe assigned additional duties as needed to support the overall well-being of students.
