Ethan won first place in his age category at the Scholar Gateway English Writing Competition, Summer 2026, after being shortlisted to the final ten and going through to a public vote.

Ethan has won first place in his age category at the Scholar Gateway English Writing Competition, Summer 2026. The result was announced at the competition's award ceremony at Central Festival Chiang Mai, where he received a first-place certificate, a tablet, a ฿1,500 cash prize, and a one-month Advanced English course.
Ten writers, then a public vote
Entries were narrowed to a shortlist of ten, after which the result went to a public vote. It was the first time Ethan had entered a competition of this kind.

In Ethan's words
Ethan wrote his own account of the competition, which he titled "Finding My Voice". He is candid about not having expected the result:
"As my very first time entering a competition like this, I truly didn't expect to win, especially after reading the other incredible entries. However, I succeeded because I chose to be brave. Even though I was nervous and sometimes lost my confidence, I kept going."
His advice to anyone hesitating over a competition of their own:
Everyone has to start somewhere, and you might just surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
Congratulations, Ethan. A considerable achievement, and a generous one to have written up so that other students might take something from it.
