Fashion, Sustainability & Self-Expression
Elly, a Year 8 student at BCIS, was selected to deliver a talk at the prestigious TEDxUCIS Youth event held in Chiang Mai. Her talk explored how fashion can be more than just trends — it can be a vehicle for sustainability, creativity and authentic self-expression.
Speaking confidently in front of an audience of students, teachers and community members from across Northern Thailand, Elly shared her personal journey of discovering sustainable fashion and challenged the audience to think differently about the clothes they wear.

In Her Own Words
"I was so nervous at first, but once I started talking about something I really care about, the nerves disappeared. I want people my age to know that what we wear matters — for the planet and for how we see ourselves."
— Elly, Year 8 student
"Elly's talk was a wonderful example of the confidence and critical thinking we nurture at BCIS. She researched her topic independently, crafted a compelling narrative and delivered it with poise. We could not be more proud."
— Mr. David Chen, Head of Secondary
Developing Confident Communicators
Public speaking, presentation skills and the ability to articulate ideas clearly are integral to the BCIS curriculum. From class presentations and assemblies to debate clubs and events like TEDx, students develop the confidence to share their voice with the world.
Elly's achievement is an inspiration to her peers and a reminder that young people have powerful ideas worth sharing.
